some years ago we went to stay in hersonissus in crete ....we had a grand holiday .. I think this was when i fell in love with greece and its people!!
Thr resort was quite busy at that time , but we used to go for long walks up in the mountains. i remeber one afternoon we were just srtollong along and this elderly greek lady just appeared out of nowhere and invited us in her house .. well it was more like a large sort of bar !old photos all over the walls ,the place was ancient ...she was lovely . could not speak a word of english , neither did i know one word of greek!! She put some stuff in a little glass at our table gesturing us to drink it . I did !!!!!!!!!whoar !! i never did find out what it was !!! i had 3 glasses .. we were there ""talking "" for ages , the hospitality was unrivalled
I just about remember buying some crocheted squares off her before i started my trek back into the village with the most wobbly legs and the feeling of thinking everyone was lovely !!! mu husband was not to bad , but he had a good laugh at me . whenever we passed there after that she shouted hello and came and gave me a big kiss

Most people I met in Corfu were amazingly friendly I haven't been to Crete yet, but as they are still Greek I can't imagine the people being any different. I am really looking forward to exploring the Greek Islands more over the coming years with Jim (that’s my partner) he seems as keen has me it was his first visit this year when I dragged him to Corfu. If only we had more money I might consider buying a holiday home somewhere in Greece but that is just wishful thinking, but hey who knows what’s round the corner.
