Sidari Beach

SidariSIDARI - SAND/SHINGLE - BLUE FLAG - WHEELCHAIR ACCESS - GENTLY SHELVES IDEAL FOR CHILDREN

Sidari is a perfect holiday destination for couples or families with children or anyone looking for a moderately lively resort.

Transfer time approx. 2hrs 30 minutes (coach), 1hr (taxi).

It has well organised water sports, as well beach loungers and sun brolleys on the beaches. Situated on the north west coast of Corfu there are 3 main beaches.

The first is near the old fishing village.

The second is the most popular as its situated close to the town with easy access parking, it's a long sweeping bay, being sand at the Sidari end progressing to shingle at the furthiest point. There are sunbeds, umbrellas for rent. The beach also has changing rooms, public toilets and showers. The beach gently shelves into the sea so is considered safe for children to swim in, and there are plenty of other water sports available.

The third beach to the west of Sidari is the Canal d'Amour or (Canal of love) given its name when there was an arch of rock (long ago eroded from the salt laden sea spray and weather) and it was said if you swam through the arch you would find your true love. The sea is deeper here but for safety reasons diving is not allowed from the cliffs.

As with all Corfu beaches please use plenty of sun screen in the day and mosquitoe repellent in the early evening. It has been noted that you do find sea urchins in corfu waters, usually they congregate around rocky areas and leave the sandy bays alone, just be watchful with young children.

There are a large number of hotels and apartments in Sidari. And well over 50 tavernas and other eateries with well prepared and inexpensive food.Sidari

How to get there:

1. The green buses leave from the centre of Corfu Town every one and a half hours.
2. By hire car it would take you approx 40 minutes.
3. The municipality of Esperion runs a free bus service 3 times a week to all the main beaches, the bus service is for both locals and tourists to use.
