PERAMA - SHINGLE

Perama is on the east coast, ringed by verdant hills which rise steeply inland. The village is joined to Kanoni on the opposite shore by a narrow footbridge across the Halikiopoulos lagoon. It's a fairly picturesque setting with romantic views across the bay and of Vlakherna (Mouse Island). There are small shingle coves where Gerald Durrell first discovered Corfu's aquatic wildlife.

Local accommodation comprises villas and moderate hotels. There is a small selection of tavernas and restaurants.
