 MESSONGI - SAND/SMALL PEBBLES - SHALLOW WATER NEAR THE SHORE
Ideal for families and couples seeeking a relaxed holiday.
Transfer time 1 hr 30 minutes (coach), 40 minutes (taxi).
Located on the south-east coast approx. 21 km from Corfu Town in a mainly flat area with olive-clad hills inland. This ex-fishing village is now a busy resort spread over a large area between the original village and the main road. The Messonghi river flows
from the surrounding gentle hills.
The beach is narrow and made up of coarse sand, some shingle and small pebbles. There are water sports and pedaloes and some shallows suitable for children. The beach runs in a long sweep to a headland to the south. A few fishing caiques lie at anchor offshore. If you do tire of the peace and quiet the lively resort of Moraitika is only a short walk away.
There is a choice of self-catering, small hotels or a vast hotel complex. The area has a cosmopolitan selection of restaurants and tavernas. |
