Glyfada
GlyfadaGlyfada is located on the west coast of Corfu 17 km (approx. 12 m) from Corfu Town and the Airport. Glyfada is lively enough but nothing too raucous. It is a trendy popular resort but small enough to have a traditional feel with atmospheric tavernas and bars.

Your holidays here could also include trips to Corfu Town, the traditional village of Pelekas, golf at Ermines or an excursion to attractive quiet Miriotissa bay with its monastery and quiet nudist beach! But with a beach like Glyfada you may want to do nothing more than enjoy the sand, sea, cliff top views and spectacularly colourful sunrises.

The beach is the cleanest on the Island, its an immense beach of soft sand and for the most part sloping safely and gradually to an intensely blue ionion sea. As the sand is so soft they have provided boarded walks to make it easier to reach the sunbeds, which have little drinks table attached (with waiter service from nearby tavernas), rubbish bin and ashstray, to keep the beach immaculate. The board walks also make the beach more accessible for the disabled holiday maker. The beach has a Blue flag and is a holiday choice for mainland Greeks. The parking is close to the beach, but you might find in peak season they could do with more, and during the summer there is a small charge - for May and October it is free.

At Glyfada you will see the 'Famous tall' rocks protruding out of the sea, its popular for the more adventurous to swim from the beach to them, and then to 'jump' from them. The highest point to dive or jump from is over 40 feet. Not for the faint hearted. Several tr avel shows and commercials have featured them. Urchins can be a problem in Corfu, but not in Glyfada its urchin free, the beach facilities include First Aid Station, toilets and showers so if you have a hire car you don't take sand back to your hotel.
Glyfada offers excellent facilities for water sport fans, golfers and walkers alike. Water sports in Glyfada include waterskiing, sailing, windsurfing, jet skis and canoeing. Volleyball is popular on Glyfada beach and golfers will enjoy a nearby golf course. You will find holiday rentals, tavernas and restaurants, bars jare ust in front of the beach. Glyfada

The restaurants in Glyfada have a cosmopolitan atmosphere, and offer a choice for every taste. The village provides money exchange and public phone boxes. But as Corfu Town is close by, you might like to shop there because Glyfada doen't have a huge choice, two supermarkets and a few gift shops.

But I don't think you will be dissappointed holidaying in Glyfada just because of the lack of shopping facilites.
