Dassia

DassiaDassia is approx. 14 km (9 miles) from Corfu Town on the east coast, it has an amazing view of mainland Greece and Albania. It will take approx. 25 minutes to reach from Corfu Town.

Dassia is a coastal resort, popular with younger couples, groups and water enthusiasts. If your feeling energetic you can easily walk to Ipsos or regular buses and taxis run to both Ipsos and Gouvia both very lively resorts, they have a huge choice of both shops and a happening nightlife, compared to Dassia's laid back approach. From the main road though, there are several smaller roads leading down to the beach.

Dassia beach is long, narrow and a mix of shingle and pebbles. The sea is calm and flat, the beach slopes gently, and platforms have been built out into the sea to make swimming a pleasure and safe. Has on most popular beaches on Corfu you will find sunbeds and brollies for a small fee. For safety most of the beach paths are lit at night. Please take care when crossing the road to the beach it can become quite busy. Dassia has a reputation for quality water sports including windsurfing, waterskiing and parascending. You might also like to try hiring a small boat to explore the many coves close by. If keeping your feet firmly on land is more your thing, Dassia also offers a golf course, or how about pony trekking. Dassia's built on a flat coastal plane ideal for exploring the countryside either on foot or why don't you hire a cycle. (The whole resort is quite flat making it a good choice for the Disabled holiday maker). Travel through amazing lush green landscapes of Olive and conifer trees to visit pretty little villages.

Close to the beach there are larger hotels, Apartments tend to be the other side of the main road - about 500m from the beach. If you are looking for a 'hotel' holiday, then Dassia should be on your list. The 'Italian' supermarket 'Diellas', is a discount hypermarket, and is useful if you are planning to stock up you will find it on the main Paleokastritsa road, just opposite the Gouvia junction. Dassia is quieter than Ipsos, it does have a number of bar-cafés overlooking the beach. Like Ipsos it has trees to give natural shade has you sip a coffee or eat one of the mouthwatering Ice creams. Restaurants tend to provide more stomach-fillers than haute-cuisine. So consider venturing further a field if haute cuisine is what your after. Like its neighbour Ipsos, Dassia play's host to visitors from 'Aqualand' peak season so it canDassia be quite packed peak season. At night if the laid back approach to nightlife isn't to your taste Taxis are readily available to ferry you to Ipsos.

A stay in Dassia gives you the best of both worlds
