Agios Stefenos NE |
| Agios Stefanos is a resort that has grown out of a fishing village. The town is very pretty and you will find it has a thriving, and very welcoming local greek community. Its popular with both couples and the larger families in the school holidays, with several supermarkets so you won't miss foods and goods from home and some local craft shops ideal to explore for a momentoe to take home.
The resort has a number of bars, taverns, restaurants and becomes very busy during the day with passing traffic both by car and boat, many of the tavernas look out over the bay to Albania where the country is so close you can see the Albanian houses. Whilst soaking in the view, why not try a 'Corfu Special' cocktail in one of the waterfront bars - a mix of Bacardi, Grand Marnier, orange and lemon juice and grenadine. If your feeling adventurous you can book a day trip to Albania through a local agent far cheaper than your holiday rep. Or you might fancy taking a walk from the coastguard station above Agios Stefanos it should take around half hour to walk the long stretch of shingle beach to Avlaki, a wind-surfers paradise.
Agios Stefanos does offer some nightlife, but you might be better off considering using the resort has a base to explore the rest of the Island.
A more lively nightlife is offered by Kassiopi - a short taxi ride away or visit Kerrasia for some variety - only a 15 minute walk away and said to be the most attractive resort this side of the island.
The beach at Agios Stefanos is quite small and is mostly shingle, but it does have sunbeds and sun brollies for hire, these can be reached by the use of board walks.
Children do need to be watched has the sea drops quite sharply, and the use of sea shoes are advised because of sea urchins.
